What I Don’t Like About the 2024 Cleveland Browns Schedule
Last Wednesday night the NFL released the 2024 regular season schedule. The Cleveland Browns got their game dates, times, and opponents for the 2024 regular season and exhibition season. Yesterday I wrote an article that said what I liked about the 2024 Cleveland Browns schedule. This article is about what I don’t like about their schedule.
Please don’t misunderstand me, this 2024 schedule is favorable to the Cleveland Browns. They get a bye week at week 10 that is right in the middle of the season. Their toughest games are late in the season. Which is when you hope to be playing at your best and making a playoff run. Also, keep in mind that anything can happen during an NFL season. Many times, games were lost that should have been won and games won that should have been lost. I am not in the business of picking winners and losers of games 6 months in advance. And there are a few things that I don’t like about the 2024 Cleveland Browns schedule.
The first thing that I didn’t like was the final exhibition season game being played in Seattle Washington. That looks like a logistical nightmare for the team. In the final exhibition season the team will have about 90 players traveling across the country to play in a game that doesn’t count. It seems pointless. The second thing that I dislike about the Browns 2024 schedule is having to play in Denver on a Monday night to then to play in Pittsburgh the following Sunday on a short week. That will not be easy for the team. The third thing that I didn’t like about the Browns 2024 schedule was the cluster of primetime games. All four of those games are later in the season. The primetime games are in week 12, 13, 16, and 17 of the 2024 season. That can throw off any teams practice and preparation schedule. And the last thing that I didn’t like about this seasons Browns schedule is the strength of that schedule. On paper it is the toughest in the NFL with a combined winning percentage of .547. But if the team is a true contender all of this shouldn’t matter.
I have consistently written that the 2024 Cleveland Browns have a Super Bowl contending roster. If I am correct in my assessment of this team. Then strength of schedule, primetime games. road games, and the bye week shouldn’t be a factor in success for a season. Every NFL season brings every NFL team challenges. The true champions of the NFL know how answer those challenges. By the end of this season, we will know the true character of this team.
