Way too Early Game 2 Preview at Jacksonville Jaguars

On September 15th, 2024, the Cleveland Browns will travel to Jacksonville Florida to play their first road game of the 2024 season. Jacksonville finished the 2023 season losing 5 of their last 6 games with a 9-8 record missing the playoffs. After winning 4 of their last 5 games, the Browns went 11-5 in 2023 and made the NFL playoffs as an AFC Wildcard Team.

The last time these two teams met it was week 14 of the 2023 season in Cleveland. The Browns won that game 31-27. Last season did end in disappointment for both teams. The Browns lost the AFC Wildcard game to the Houston Texans 45-24. And the Jacksonville Jaguars failed to make the playoffs after starting their season with an 8-3 record. Their lone win during the final stretch of the 2023 season was against the lowly Carolina Panthers. In contrast the 2023- Cleveland Browns won 4 of their last 5 games with Joe Flacco at quarterback. Their week 18 loss was when Coach Stefanski made the decision to rest starters for the playoffs. This game will be different because the Browns should have Deshaun Watson at quarterback.

Watson is no stranger to the Jacksonville Jaguars, considering that he started his career as a division rival in Houston. His overall record against Jacksonville is 6-1. His lone loss to the Jaguars was his rookie season in 2017.  Otherwise, he has averaged over a 100-quarterback rating with 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. In other words, Deshaun Watson has done very well against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And this game should not be any different. Jacksonville’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence has an 0-1 record against the Browns and a 2-4 record against the AFC North. He has 10 touchdowns and 4 interceptions against the AFC North as well. 3 of those 4 interceptions are against the Cleveland Browns secondary. If trends and history continue with this game, then the outcome should be favorable to the Cleveland Browns and their fans.
