T.J. Watt to skip Pro Bowl due to knee injury

When T.J. Watt was injured during the Week 18 game vs. the Baltimore Ravens, his postseason instantly became in question. Watt didn’t play in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ postseason loss to the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, NY, but head coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday in his end-of-season press conference Watt could have played in the Divisional Round if the team had advanced that far.

Nonetheless, Watt isn’t about to push the knee injury which sidelined him for the NFL’s Pro Bowl, instead he is back out of the game to allow his knee to heal properly. This announcement wasn’t made by the Steelers, but by the Cleveland Browns when they announced Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah would be taking his place at the Pro Bowl.

This per the Browns official website:

“LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and G Wyatt Teller have been named to the Pro Bowl. They will be replacing Steelers LB T.J. Watt and Browns G Joel Bitonio, who are unable to participate due to injury.”

Watt won’t need surgery, and shouldn’t have any issues preparing for the 2024 season, all of which is good news for the former Defensive Player of the Year who is coming off a 19 sack season.
