Cam Heyward misses the Steelers practice on Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers are well into their preparation for Sunday’s matchup against the 49ers. As the Steelers took the practice field for their second official day of preparation for the San Francisco 49ers, there was one player who did not participate while one was limited. In the second injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, no new names appear on the list.

Pittsburgh Steelers Participation/Injury Report, Week 1

Thursday, September 7
DT Cameron Heyward (NIR/Stomach) – DNP
DT Larry Ogunjobi (Foot) – Limited

As what happened many times last season, Cam Hayward landed on the injury report yesterday due to getting time off for rest as a coach’s decision. But instead of getting the entire practice off, Heyward was listed as a limited participant with no injury designation. On Thursday, Heyward did not practice and had the designation of “stomach” added to the reason.

After missing all of the preseason, defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday with a foot injury. When asked about Ogunjobi during his press conference on Tuesday, Mike Tomlin was not prepared to say they would follow the same routine with Ogunjobi that they used in 2022. But on Thursday Ogunjobi was once again limited bringing his availability for Sunday a little more into question.

As for the 49ers injury report, it will come out later in the day due to being a West Coast team but will be here once released courtesy of Steelers.com.
