Beach Day: Cleveland Guardians Earn Relaxation with 6-3 Win Over Miami Marlins

The Cleveland Guardians won their 15th series of the year with a 6-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

Today, the team can relax on the beach before heading to Cincinnati for the Ohio Cup series with the Reds, which starts on Tuesday.

Gabriel Arias jump-started the Cleveland offense in the third inning with an opposite-field solo home run to right-center field.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. evened the score for the Fish with a 440-foot blast to center field in the fourth inning off Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco.

Miami took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an error by center fielder Tyler Freeman, but the Cleveland offense quickly erased that mistake.

Jose Ramirez raced home after a single from David Fry to tie the game 2-2 in the sixth.

DROPPING THE BOMB

Freeman broke the tie in the top of the seventh, bashing a three-run homer off Marlins reliever AJ Puk (0-7).

In the ninth inning, Ramirez singled to score Freeman, increasing Cleveland’s lead to 6-2 and adding to his league-best RBI total (62).

As usual, Cleveland’s bullpen was instrumental in Cleveland’s comeback. Five relievers pitched the final 4 1/3 innings.

Nick Sandlin (5-0) got the win, and the lone hit was a home run by Jake Burger off Emmanuel Clase. Don’t worry, his ERA is still 0.57.

Triston McKenzie will start on Tuesday night for the Guardians against the Reds. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
