Around the Big 12-Week 1

Rejoice football fanatics! Football season is finally here! Well, it actually started last weekend in Ireland with a real snoozer of a game that saw Notre Dame take Navy to the Irish woodshed. Despite all of that, we are finally here to discuss Week 1 of the Big 12 Slate! I’ll take a quick headline look at the games each week for all 14 teams. SO without further interruption, lets dive in.

Texas Tech- The Red Raiders head to Wyoming to take on an underrated Cowboys squad. Tech should win comfortably though, starting off the year strong. 9/2 6:30 p.m. CBS

UCF- The Knights take on a Kent State team on Thursday night in an early season opener. UCF is a whopping 36 point favorite, and they should win by 50. 8/31 6:00 p.m. FS1

Kansas- The Jayhawks kickoff their season Friday night against Missouri State. I heard they might be giving tickets away to this one, and it isn’t even on any of the sportsbooks, go figure. 9/1 7:00 p.m. ESPN+

TCU- One of the better games of Week 1, TCU hosts Colorado in Deion Sanders first P5 coaching game. What will TCU look like after losing a lot of players to the draft? Is Deion more than just a hype man? We’ll see! 9/2 11:00 a.m. FOX

Oklahoma- In OU’s last Big 12 campaign, they open against Arkansas State. OU is also a 36 point favorite. Can Venables start strong to cool his seat? A lot of questions around this program as they head to the SEC after this season. 9/2 11:00 a.m. ESPN

Iowa State- Hoooo boy this is going to be a rough year in Ames. They open with Northern Iowa. I would give a spread on this game, but it would probably be in poor taste. Yikes. 9/2 1:00 p.m. ESPN+

Texas- The Longhorns start the year with lofty expectations-stop me if you’ve heard this before-but Sark has something to prove in the last Big 12 season for UT. It’s championship or bust. First up? JT Daniels and Rice. 9/2 2:30 p.m. FOX

Cincinnati- The Bearcats open the Scott Satterfield era against Eastern Kentucky. So, mark it on the calendar…or don’t I don’t really care. 9/2 2:30 p.m. ESPN+

Kansas State- The Wildcats begin their defense of a Big 12 title against SE Missouri. It’s Will Howard time in the Little Apple. 9/2 6:00 p.m. ESPN+

Baylor- The Bears are looking to rebound from a disappointing year last season. They host Texas State to get back on track. 9/2 6:00 p.m. ESPN+

Houston- The Donovan Smith era begins for Dana Holgerson and co. They host an always dangerous UTSA squad, Cougars are on upset alert, although I’m not sure I’d call it an upset. 9/2 6:00 p.m. FS1

Oklahoma State- The Cowboys open their season with Central Arkansas. Not quite sure what to make of the Pokes this season, so we’ll wait and see. 9/2 6:00 p.m. ESPN+

West Virginia- Well. There is no other way to say it. Opening at Penn State in primetime is not easy. Rough start for WVU I’m afraid. 9/2 6:30 p.m. NBC

BYU- Last but certainly not least are our friends from Provo. BYU opens with Sam Houston. I’m really interested in seeing what the Cougars do this season. 9/2 9:15 FS1
