Steelers to have all 3 of their preseason games aired nationally

For many Steelers fans, the NFL season can’t get here soon enough. Even though the Steelers don’t officially take the field with outcomes that matter in the standings until September, the month of August has the Steelers on the field against NFL opponents in three preseason games, two of which will be at Acrisure Stadium. While fans in the local market will be able to catch all three of these games on KDKA, fans outside of the Pittsburgh area have to make other arrangements to make sure they can catch the first glimpse of the Black & Gold in action.

On Tuesday, the NFL Network announced it will oblige Steelers’ Nation and will be covering all three of the Steelers preseason games in 2024.

When it comes to preseason games covered on NFL Network, there are two very important things to consider. First, it is important to know NFL Network’s schedule as they will cut away from a preseason game to begin coverage of another. In the past, the Steelers have been airing live on NFL Network but another game is scheduled to be covered only two hours after the Steelers kicked off. Therefore, by the middle of the third quarter the game was no longer available. For 2024, the Steelers are the only game being covered in preseason Week 1 on Friday evening, so it should be shown in it’s entirety. As for the other two Steelers games, there is another game scheduled three hours after their kickoff so the majority of the game should be available if it is not complete depending on how things play out.

The other thing to consider when watching preseason games on NFL Network is that generally the coverage is by the home team during the game. Therefore, Steelers fans shoukd get the KDKA coverage in preseason Week 1 and Week 2 of which has been Bob Pompeani and Charlie Batch on the call in previous seasons. As for preseason Week 3, it is likely to be the Detroit Lions coverage of the game.

If anyone is concerned over being able to view the entire game on NFL Network, every preseason game can be seen live with a subscription to NFL Plus.

For those fans outside of the Pittsburgh area, this is big news to be able to see the Steelers in action during the preseason. While some fans merely wait for the regular season to begin, I’m sure there will be plenty of anticipation to see the Steelers new pieces in action for the first time, even if the outcome does not factor into the standings.
