Steelers announce the signing of 5 undrafted rookie free agents

The 2024 NFL Draft might have concluded, but that doesn’t mean the work is done for all 32 NFL teams. It is at this point when players who went undrafted can now sign with a team of their choice. Yes, if two teams come calling they get their choice of which team might possess the best opportunity for them, as well as the most money.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers draft being over after the 6th Round, the team got a head start on trying to find players who might go undrafted after the 3-day selection process concluded. Saturday evening the team announced they had signed 5 undrafted rookie free agents.

The list of those rookie free agents is below:

Beanie Bishop, CB, West Virginia
Daijun Edwards, RB, Georgia
John Rhys Plumlee, QB, Central Florida
Julius Welschof, linebacker, Charlotte
Jacoby Windmon, linebacker, Michigan State

This isn’t the only crop of free agents for the Steelers, with the team still likely negotiating with other players in hopes of having them sign with in Pittsburgh. In other words, expect more players to be signed as undrafted rookie free agents (UDFAs) in the coming days. In the meantime, the five players added by the Steelers include players who will now compete this offseason for a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.

Getting from the 90-man roster to the 53-man roster isn’t easy, but at least these players now have a shot.
