Mike Tomlin outlines Steelers injuries heading into Week 4

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time in this young 2023 season, and they are looking for the hat trick in Week 4 when they travel to play the Houston Texans. On paper, many might feel this is an easy win, but the Texans beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3 behind a strong performance from rookie C.J. Stroud has proven this won’t be an easy task.

As always, a huge key to the Steelers success will be the health of the team. Who will be available, and who might miss the game? Tuesday Mike Tomlin met with the media to answer questions, and he talked about those who might be banged up before the team hits the road again.

The first player mentioned by Tomlin was offensive guard James Daniels. Tomlin said Daniels is nursing a groin injury which might have him miss some practice time this week. Also, wide receiver Allen Robinson is dealing with an ankle injury, one which Tomlin said might limit his availability in the early portions of the week

The only other player who was singled out, from an injury standpoint, is punter Pressley Harvin III. According to Tomlin, Harvin is nursing a hamstring injury, but the Steelers head coach made it clear he didn’t expect this injury to limit his availability on game day.

As is customary, Tomlin said the team is still getting players into the facility and getting a grasp of some of the “bumps and bruises associated with play”.

Two players who left the game in Week 3 vs. the Las Vegas Raiders, but weren’t mentioned by Tomlin on Tuesday, were running back Najee Harris and cornerback Levi Wallace. Both players did return to the game, and the fact they weren’t on Tomlin’s list of injured players shows they should be on the mend and good-to-go heading into Week 4.

The Steelers now prepare for the unique challenge of facing the dynamic rookie quarterback on the road in Week 4. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare next week’s game.
