Cam Heyward, Diontae Johnson out for Sunday’s game

The Pittsburgh Steelers have fallen into a very deep hole to start their first regular season game of the 2023 season. Down 17–0 in the second quarter, things are starting to pile on even more against the Steelers. According to Burt Lauten of the Steelers PR department, Cam Heyward has exited the game with a groin injury and is questionable to return.

Entering his 13th NFL season all with the Steelers, Cam Hayward has 78.5 regular season sacks which is only two away from tying the Steelers franchise record of 80.5 sacks by James Harrison.

With things going from bad to worse for the Steelers, it is hard to say if the Steelers captain would come back on the field even if he is deemed healthy enough to play.

UPDATE: Heyward returned for another snap only to leave the field.

The Steelers have now added another injury on the defensive line as DeMarvin Leal is questionable to return with an elbow injury.

UPDATE: Cam Heyward has now been ruled out for the remainder of the Steelers Week 1 game.

UPDATE: Although DeMarvin Leal has returned to the game, wide receiver Diontae Johnson has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
