Around the AFC West: Week 15

Patrick Mahomes threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns in the Kansas City Chiefs 27-17 win over the New England Patriots. It was the first time in six games that Mahomes eclipsed the 300-yard mark. He found nine different receivers on the day with Rashee Rice, who has emerged as the number one receiver for the Chiefs, leading the way with nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs defense held Bailey Zappe under 200 yards passing and sacked him four times. The Chiefs host the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day.

The Denver Broncos got blown out 42-17 on Saturday night in Detroit. Russell Wilson had a decent game throwing for 223 yards and a touchdown but it was not enough on a night where the Denver defense allowed Jared Goff to throw five touchdowns. It is hard to win a game when that happens. The Broncos take on the New England Patriots on Christmas Eve night.

Bradon Staley coached his last game for the Los Angeles Chargers in week 15. He and general manager Tom Telesco were fired on Friday after the Chargers lost to the Raiders 63-21 on Thursday Night Football. Aidan O’Connell torched the Los Angeles defense for four touchdowns and 248 yards. Davante Adams had eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. It has been an up and down season for the former All-Pro but he showed up this week. Easton Stick piled up some stats in garbage time throwing for three touchdowns and 257 yards. Joshua Palmer finished the night with 113 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Raiders play the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day while the Chargers play the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.
