An Early Week 8 Preview Versus the Baltimore Ravens

On October 27th, 2024, the Cleveland Browns host the defending AFC North Champion Baltimore Ravens for a week 8 matchup of the 2024 NFL season. The last time these teams played each other in 2023, the Browns upset the Ravens in Baltimore 33-31. Deshaun Watson played his best half of football for the Cleveland Browns in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Watson went 14 for 14 for 139 yards, 1 touchdown, and a 2-point conversion. It was a heroic effort considering he had a high ankle sprain and broken bone in his shoulder. But can Watson and the Browns efforts be replicated?

The Baltimore Ravens is an early offseason favorite to win the AFC North and repeat as division champions. The Cleveland Browns are considered a playoff team but not necessarily ready to dethrone Baltimore by most experts and pundits. During the offseason Baltimore did lose 3 starters on defense and the 3 starters on the offensive line. They will be a good team, but how good is the question? The Browns offseason kept the starting roster mostly intact. They added wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and linebacker Jordan Hicks. It is also anticipated that Browns running back Nick Chubb will be back for this game. This certainly is not the same OLD Browns against the Ravens.

Last season Baltimore was one game away from the Super Bowl. They are a tough football team in the toughest division in football. The Cleveland Browns must match the physicality that will come with this game. In a 17-game season every game is important. With six divisional games in a season, those games are twice as important. If the Cleveland Browns expect to contend for an AFC North Championship, winning home divisional games is a must. A win in this game would signify a new era for the Browns. An era of expecting to win home games and division titles.
