New-Look New England Patriots Offense Following Addition Of Drake Maye

There is officially a new era in New England.

Bill Belichick is out and Jerod Mayo is the new head coach. Mac Jones is gone and now, the franchise officially has its next quarterback.

On Thursday night with the third-overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Patriots added Drake Maye. This was the fit all along with Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels going with the first two picks.

The Patriots had one of the worst overall rosters in football last season. There has been some overhaul and additions were made in the draft, especially at the wide receiver prediction.

Below, take a look at how the depth chart might look heading into next season.

Potential Patriots Offensive Depth Chart

QB: Drake Maye

RB: Rhamondre Stevenson

RB: Antonio Gibson

WR1: Kendrick Bourne

WR2: Ja’Lynn Polk/Javon Baker

SWR: DeMario Douglas

TE: Hunter Henry

LT: Conor McDermott

LG: Cole Strange

C: David Andrews

RG: Sidy Sow

RT: Mike Onwenu

What Are The Expectations?

The roster for the New England Patriots needed a serious overhaul. It is already off to a better start with Maye under center. It is hard to get worse than the product that New England ran out last year.

Aside from Maye, the Patriots added Antonio Gibson in free agency and re-signed left tackle Mike Onwenu. The Patriots entered the draft with two major offensive needs. Of course, one was added with Maye. With the third pick being used on the next franchise quarterback, the Patriots missed out on the top receivers in the draft.

This did not sway the front office from improving on the outside. New England landed both Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker on day two. Both have a chance to make an impact right away. Polk and Baker are an intriguing duo of rookies for Maye to work with. For a rebuilding team like the Patriots, an abundance of rookies is not a bad thing.

There might not be expectations for the Patriots this season but that will not be the case in upcoming years. The 2024-25 season will be about developing Maye and the rest of the young talent. New England focused on offensive line as well and bringing back Onwenu gives the team a solid option at left tackle to protect Maye.

The new era is on in New England with Mayo at the helm on the sideline. The quarterback is in place and the rebuild is officially on.
