Gunther, Lyra Valkyria Advance to King and Queen of the Ring Finals

Gunther and Lyra Valkyria punched their tickets to Saudi Arabia, as their wins last night on Raw qualified them for the tournament finals at Saturday’s King & Queen of the Ring pay-per-view.

Austrian juggernaut Gunther is known for shattering The Honky Tonk Man’s 35-year record of being the longest reigning Intercontinental champion of all time. While Gunther finally lost the title to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania, he started another strong run in the tournament.

Gunther beat Jey Uso in the main event last night to become Raw’s representative in the King of the Ring finals. Gunther, who has won all of his tournament matches by submission, will face the winner of the Randy Orton vs. Tama Tonga match on Friday’s Smackdown.

In the Queen of the Ring tournament, Lyra Valkyria continued her hot streak since joining the Raw roster. The former NXT women’s champion beat Iyo Sky to qualify for the finals at the PPV.

Valkyria will face the winner of the Smackdown match between Nia Jax and Bianca Belair.

Chad Gable defeated Sami Zayn in a non-title match. They will compete in the Triple Threat match for the title against Bronson Reed at the PPV. The question is: will Otis help his overbearing mentor Gable or break away from him?

The Awesome Truth (R-Truth & The Miz) retained the World tag team title with a win over the Judgment Day team of Finn Balor & JD McDonagh. Braun Strowman lent the champions a hand against Judgment Day’s Dominic Mysterio and Carlito at ringside.

Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark are the new top contenders to the WWE women’s tag team title, which are held by Belair & Jade Cargill. Baszler & Stark won a four-way match over Dakota Kai & Kairi Sane, Kayden Carter & Katana Chance, and Ivy Nile & Maxxine Dupri.

Don’t look know, but Bron Breakker may be the next big star in WWE. He destroyed Kale Dixon in less than two minutes and wiped out Ricochet in a backstage attack. The fans were very impressed with Breakker, who is the son of Rick Steiner.
