Rutgers Opening Betting Line vs. Miami In Pinstripe Bowl

Rutgers clinched a berth to bowl season prior to its bye week on Oct. 21. The Scarlet Knights finished the season with four consecutive losses but still have a chance to compete in the postseason.

On Sunday, it was confirmed that Rutgers will take part in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. The Scarlet Knights will take on Miami on Dec. 28.

The betting line has been released and the Scarlet Knights are 3.5-point underdogs, according the multiple reports. The total for the game is set at 41.5.

During the season, Rutgers finished 6-6 and 6-4-2 against the spread. The Scarlet Knights began the season 5-0-1 ATS against favorable competition over the first six weeks. As the schedule got difficult, Rutgers began to show that there is a sizable gap in competition.

In terms of the total, Rutgers saw six games go over and six go under this season. In many cases late in the season, the Scarlet Knights were being stifled offensively and some top-tier teams would carry an over, such as Ohio State.

The Pinstripe Bowl was first played in 2010 and Rutgers will be making its third appearance. In 2011, the Scarlet Knights defeated Iowa State 27-13. Just two years later, Rutgers took on No. 25 Notre Dame and was defeated.

The Scarlet Knights will look to find some offensive spark in its final game of the season in just over three weeks and claim one final victory in 2023.
