It Depends On Who You Talk To…

Prior to any NFL draft, teams hold meetings with draft eligible players. It starts at the Senior Bowl and ends with individual meetings at the team’s facilities. These meetings shine a light on not only which players a team is interested in, but also which positions. Last year the Browns visited with RT Dawand Jones, DT Siaki Ika and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Here’s a list of who they’ve had meetings with so far this year.

QB Bo Nix, Oregon, QB Joe Milton, Tennessee, RB Aiden Robbins, BYU, RB Audric Estime, Notre Dame, WR Malik Washington, Virginia, WR Jermaine Burton, Alabama, WR Troy Franklin, Oregon, WR Xavier Worthy, Texas, WR Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky, OG Javion Cohen, Miami (Fl), OG Christian Haynes, U Conn, OT Blake Larson, Augustana College, OT Gabe Wallace, Buffalo, OT Kiran Amegadjie, Yale, OT Delmar Glase, Maryland, OT Patrick Paul, Houston, DT Tuli Letuligasenoa, Washington, DT Myles Murphy, North Carolina, DT Braden Fiske, Florida State, DT Masson Smith, LSU, DT Michael Hall, Ohio State and DE Adisa Issac Penn State.

Looking at this list, it’s apparent the Browns are focusing on the offensive line, wide receiver and defensive tackle. The Browns draft strategy under GM Andrew Berry is to draft for depth and for future starters. Some of the above-mentioned players have a high probability of being drafted prior to the 54th pick. For instance, QB Bo Nix (#33), WR Troy Franklin (#40) DT Braden Fiske (#39) and DE Adisa Issac (#50). The Browns front office seldom trades up, but they will do their due diligence on players who might fall. If Cleveland is drafting for future starters, then they’ll need to find replacements for WR Elijah Moore and LT Jedrick Wills, both are unsigned for 2025. The two players that fall into pick 54 range are WR Jermaine Burton (#52) and OT Kiran Amegadjie (#57). Both have the ability and talent to be starters in 2025.

No team has the ability to draft every player they talk to, but It’s important to know which positions a team is concentrating on, it might preview their draft strategy.
