The Boston Celtics were celebrating an NBA Finals victory twelve months ago. Now, the Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers late on Monday night and they have dealt Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks. What once was an unstoppable megateam is now being dismantled.

The Miami Heat held back in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, leading to the Houston Rockets swooping in and acquiring Durant from Phoenix. The Suns’ asking price was too high for Miami, but does Pat Riley want to blow this team up?

On Sunday, the Houston Rockets agreed to terms on a deal with the Phoenix Suns to acquire 15-time All-Star Kevin Durant. After the Rockets were bounced in the first round by the Golden State Warriors, they felt it was time to bring in a veteran to help the young Rockets core. Congratulations to the Thunder on their first championship, and congratulations to the Pacers for a good season and an electric NBA Finals series. Both teams proved that you don’t have to be in a large market, and you certainly don’t need to buy a championship to succeed. Both of these teams were built from the ground up, and diehard basketball fans should love and admire both of these organizations.

Marquette has a history of producing dudes like Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler, and I consider Kam Jones another dude who could be a household name in the NBA, and specifically Miami.

This scenario is not wishful thinking. The Dallas Mavericks trading Luka Doncic away means anything is possible. And if the Milwaukee Bucks can’t land a star with Giannis this offseason, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucks entertain offers to ship the Greek Freak out of Milwaukee. At the very least, the Bucks wouldn’t immediately hang up the phone if a team called, and that should be the Miami Heat.
