Steelers trim roster to 81 after releasing wide receiver

The NFL has set their deadline for all 32 NFL teams to be at the league-mandated 53 players for Tuesday at 4pm EST. But teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers are going through their roster and starting to make some of the easier decisions getting the roster from 90 to 53.

Saturday the Steelers released eight players, and they followed that up on Sunday by releasing one of their more recent additions, wide receiver Aron Cruickshank.

This per the Steelers official Twitter/X page:

Cruickshank was the player the Steelers signed shortly after the team announced they waived both Cody White and Hakeem Butler with an injury designation. Cruickshank helped fill out the wide receiver depth chart for the Week 3 preseason game vs. the Atlanta Falcons, but now finds himself once again on the open market looking for a football home.

Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes as the team continues to trim their roster to 53 players, and then turn their attention to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the regular season.
