Steelers trim roster to 70 players after 10 more cuts

Just earlier Monday it was reported the Steelers were parting ways with free agent pick-up Tanner Muse. It was assumed he would be just one of many cuts made as the organization tries to get their roster to the league-mandated 53 players.

The deadline for such moves is tomorrow, Tuesday, at 4pm EST. As expected, the Steelers did cut more players than just Muse, releasing 10 in total.

This per the Steelers official Twitter/X feed:

The players who were released were:

CB: Lavert Hill
DL: Manny Jones
ILB: Tanner Muse, Toby Ndukwe
OL: Le’Raven Clark, William Dunkle
QB: Tanner Morgan
RB: Darius Hagans
S: Jalen Elliott, Kenny Robinson

After the team released nine player this weekend and traded Kevin Dotson, taking their roster to 80 players, the team releasing 10 more puts their roster at 70 players. It is likely the final players to be released won’t happen until Tuesday.

What would be the hold up in just making all the cuts necessary before the deadline? There is a chance Omar Khan could trade some players to gain late-round draft picks, or package players if they feel it could benefit the team. In that regard, you want to wait until the last possible moment to see if you can make some moves before releasing players.

In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for thee San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the regular season.
