Steelers signing QB Trace McSorley to practice squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an injury problem, and a big position of need moving forward is the quarterback position.

Monday Mike Tomlin addressed the media and outlined the injury situation heading into Week 14’s Thursday Night Football game vs. the New England Patriots and with Kenny Pickett ruled out the team would need to sign a QB to fill out the depth chart.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers are signing former Penn State QB Trace McSorley to their practice squad.

McSorley will likely be the emergency QB on Thursday night, and likely as long as the Steelers are without Pickett.

McSorley most recently spent time with Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears and New England Patriots in the 2023 offseason/training camp/preseason. Prior to those stops, McSorley was a backup with the Baltimore Ravens.

Pickett underwent surgery on his high ankle injury and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, per reports.
