Steelers sign Logan Lee and Mason McCormick to rookie contracts

The Pittsburgh Steelers have started their 2024 Rookie Minicamp, and that means it’s the first time they’ve had the full seven player draft group in Pittsburgh at the same time. That means there is a good chance the Steelers start wrapping up their draft picks and getting them under contract.

The Steelers signed their first draft pick Friday when they came to terms on an entry level contract with defensive lineman Logan Lee.

Just a few minutes after Lee signed his initial contract in the NFL, 4th Round pick Mason McCormick also put pen to paper on this first professional contract.

For salary cap hits, they are as follows:

Mason McCormick: $986,225
Logan Lee: $850,019

There was once a time when the NFL had to struggle to get their rookies under contract. Players would hold out for the most money possible, but since the league has shifted, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), to slotted draft contracts the signing of rookies has become nothing more than a formality.

Lee and McCormick are now under contract for the next four seasons, and will hopefully become mainstays on the offensive and defensive lines for the black-and-gold for years to come. With Lee and McCormick being the first rookies to sign, the following rookies still remain unsigned as the team prepares for Day 2 of rookie minicamp

Round 1: Troy Fautanu
Round 2: Zach Frazier
Round 3: Roman Wilson
Round 3: Payton Wilson
Round 6: Ryan Watts
