Steelers fill out 53-man roster heading into Week 3

The Pittsburgh Steelers were forced to make some roster moves prior to their Week 2 game on Monday Night Football vs. the Cleveland Browns. When they placed running back Anthony McFarland Jr. and wide receiver Diontae Johnson on Injured Reserve (IR), it resulted in them only having 51 players on their active roster.

As almost all NFL fans know, teams are permitted to carry 53 players on their active roster during the regular season.

Before the game the team promoted running back Qadree Ollison to the active roster from the practice squad, but the team would have to decide what to do with the vacant spots on the team’s 53-man roster. Wednesday, as the team prepares for the Las Vegas Raiders on the road in Week 3, there are now reports the team has made the following moves to their roster.

It is being reported the team is signing running back Godwin Igwebuike to the 53-man roster from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad.

This per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network:

With one more spot still available, the Steelers are also reportedly promoting from within, and that comes with the promotion of Breiden Fehoko off the practice squad to the active roster.

This per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

Will either player be active on game day this Sunday night? That will depend on the injury report coming from the Steelers, the first of three will be released today, Wednesday.
