Steelers add five new players to Reserve/Future Contracts

The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed into the 2024 offseason. One of their first orders of business since the season ended has been signing players to Reserve/Future contracts. On Tuesday, the Steelers announced 5 new players who they have signed.

The latest list of Reserve/Futures Contracts is below:

DB Kalon Barnes
DB Thomas Graham
LB Tyler Murray
LB David Perales
DB Josiah Scott

The aforementioned five players join the following list of players who were signed last week:

CB Luq Barcoo
OT Tyler Beach
WR Marquez Callaway
FB Jack Colletto
OT Kellen Diesch
S Jalen Elliott
G Joey Fisher
WR Dez Fitzpatrick
OT Devery Hamilton
OT Anderson Hardy
WR Keilahn Harris
DL Jonathan Marshall
C Ryan McCollum
WR Denzel Mims
RB Aaron Shampkin
DL Jacob Slade
WR Duece Watts

From this list, many players spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad in 2023. Those players include Luq Barcoo, Jack Colletto, Kellen Diesch, Jalen Elliott, Joey Fisher, Dez Fitzpatrick (who appeared in one game for the Steelers in 2023), Jonathan Marshall, Ryan McCollum, Denzel Mims, and Duece Watts.

Following an NFL regular season, any player who is not on a 53-man roster or a practice squad of a team who are still not competing in the postseason is eligible to sign a Reserve/Future contract. These contracts do not count against the team’s salary cap until the beginning of the new league year in March, hence why they are “future.” Players who are on a team’s practice squad may sign a Reserve/Future contract with the same team or may look to sign somewhere else.
