Steelers add another tight end to the 90-man offseason roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now partway through the second week of Phase Three of 2024 OTAs. With one more full week to go as well as mandatory mini camp, the Steelers have announced another addition to their 90-man offseason roster by adding tight end Izaiah Gathings.

Undrafted in 2023 out of Middle Tennessee State, Gathings landed with the New York Jets following their rookie minicamp last year. After failing to make the Jets roster, Gathings spent time on the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2023 NFL season.

In two seasons at Middle Tennessee State, Gathings had 84 receptions for 861 yards and three touchdowns. The previous three seasons, Gathings played for Gardner Webb where he had 101 receptions for 1341 yards and 14 touchdowns in 24 games.

Gathings join the Steelers tight end room which already consists of four players from the 2023 roster in Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington, Connor Heyward, and Rodney Williams. The Steelers also added free agent MyCole Pruitt earlier this offseason.
