Opinion or Fact: Did Patrick Mahomes blow it?

The NFL news cycle never stops turning, and often times for players the news cycle isn’t a positive one. With teams reporting to training camp this week, people are talking about the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Of the members of the team, no one gets talked about more than Patrick Mahomes.

With the Netflix docu-series “Quarterback” featuring Mahomes during the 2022 season, all eyes are on him even more than they were in the past. While playing in a Pro-Am, the American Century Championship, Mahomes was preparing to hit an approach shot near the ropes where spectators stand. A young fan politely asked for an autograph, and Mahomes declined. The fan’s father then had something to say about Mahome choosing to deny him an autograph.

Check out the interaction below which was caught on film:

After seeing the interaction, who was right? Who was is in the wrong?

While some just take the video at face value, there are others who feel Mahomes should have at least taken the time to sign an autograph for a young fan, or promise he would get him his autograph after he hit his shot.

The other side of the coin is at what point do athletes not have to always appease fans at every opportunity?

This is where the “Opinion or Fact” podcast comes in and helps discuss these hot-button topics surrounding the NFL. Co-hosts Jeff Hartman and Wesley Coleman debate who was in the right, and who was in the wrong, in this situation, as well as talk about how some fans and players need a dose of reality from time to time.
