End of an Error: Raiders 2020 Draft Class Now All Gone

With the recent departure of cornerback Amik Robertson to the Detroit Lions during free agency, the 2020 Raiders draft class is officially all gone. In what could be considered the worst draft class in NFL history, the Raiders led by Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock truly set the franchise back several seasons.

Here is a look at the 2020 draft class and where they are now.

Round 1 Pick 12: Henry Ruggs III – Out of the NFL

Round 1 Pick 19: Damon Arnette – Out of the NFL

Round 3 Pick 80: Lynn Bowden – Last signed with the Saints

Round 3 Pick 81: Bryan Edwards – Out of the NFL

Round 3 Pick 100: Tanner Muse – Los Angeles Chargers

Round 4 Pick 109: John Simpson – New York Jets

Round 4 Pick 139: Amik Robertson – Detroit Lions

Out of the seven selections, three of them or 42-percent of the draft class is no longer in the National Football League. This is just in four short years, which is unprecedented.

Normally you have these athletes still playing on scout team or on an NFL active roster, but this could be considered the worst draft class in NFL history and has hurt the franchise and their growth over the last several seasons.

The good news is that last year’s draft class for the Raiders was quite positive and they are heading in the right direction with their new leadership.

New Leadership:

Antonio Pierce is someone who is a born leader and can take the team to new heights. He is someone who has surrounded himself with a strong coaching staff, bringing on veteran former head coaches and other strong detailed minded individuals. While I was always a fan of Jon Gruden, it can be said that his drafting ability/ input really did not pan out.

As for general manager, the Raiders hired Tom Telesco, who served as the general manager for the San Diego/ Los Angeles Chargers from 2013-2023. He has the experience and has drafted several solid athletes over the years. He does, like many other general managers, has his fair share of errors – that is bound to happen when you are drafting for a decade.

These two new leadership hires are far better than the last two pairs in Jon Gruden/ Mike Mayock and Josh McDaniels/ Dave Ziegler.

Ultimately, I am very curious to hear your thoughts on this 2020 Raiders draft class and if they are the worst in NFL history. Is there one that you can think of that takes the cake? Let us know in the comment section below.
