Around the NFC South: Week 2

Baker Mayfield is off to a scorching start as the starting quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs moved to 2-0 this week with a 27-17 win over the Chicago Bears. Mayfield threw for 317 yards and a touchdown in the win. Mike Evans was on the receiving end of 171 of those yards and the touchdown. Tampa Bay’s defense was also great in the win holding the Bears to just 67 yards on the ground. The NFC South is very much up for grabs, and through two weeks the Buccaneers look like they want to be the one to grab it. The Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles in week three.

The Buccaneers are not the only hot team in the NFC South. The Atlanta Falcons are also off to a 2-0 start. This week they got a come-from-behind 25-24 win over the Green Bay Packers. Rookie running back Bijan Robinson was spectacular in the win with 124 rushing yards and 48 receiving yards. The stats do not tell the whole story of how good Robinson has been. Check out these highlights to see what he is doing to opposing defenders. The Falcons travel to Detroit to take on the Lions this week.

The New Orleans Saints also got to 2-0 with a 20-17 win over the Carolina Panthers. The story of this game was the Saints’ defense. They held rookie Bryce Young to just 153 passing yards and sacked him four times. 61 of those passing yards came on the Panthers’ final drive when the game was pretty much over. Through two weeks the New Orleans defense has only allowed one touchdown. The Saints play the Green Bay Packers in week three while the Panthers play the Seattle Seahawks.
