Around the NFC East: Week 2

It has been a fast start to the 2023 season for the Dallas Cowboys. This week they moved to 2-0 with a 30-10 win over the New York Jets. The Cowboys’ defense held the Jets to just 215 total yards of offense and intercepted Zach Wilson three times. Dak Prescott had a very efficient day going 31 of 38 for 255 yards and two touchdowns. Tony Pollard added 72 yards on the ground. Dallas travels to Arizona to take on the Cardinals next week.

The Philadelphia Eagles also got out to a 2-0 start with a 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. D’Andre Swift was the story of the game. With Kenny Gainwell out, Swift rushed 28 times for 175 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles also got 131 receiving yards from DeVonta Smith. One storyline to watch going forward with Philadelphia is A.J. Brown’s usage. He was seen yelling at Jalen Hurts on the sideline after one offensive series. Will they work to feed him the ball in week three against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

Week two proved much better for the New York Giants. Of course, any week where you play the Arizona Cardinals is going to be a good week. The Giants went to Arizona and won 31-28. They were trailing at halftime 20-0 but rallied to score 31 points in the second half. Unfortunately for the Giants, Saquon Barkley was injured in the game and will probably miss a couple of weeks. The Giants will have a much tougher test on Thursday night when they take on the San Francisco 49ers.

The Washington Commanders moved to 2-0 with a 35-33 win over the Denver Broncos. Are the Commanders for real? If they are, they will need to continue to get quality play from Sam Howell. He threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns. The Washington defense gave up 308 yards to Russell Wilson through the air but also sacked him seven times. The win did not come without a scare however after the Broncos connected on a Hail Mary as time expired but the two-point conversion attempt failed. The Commanders host the Buffalo Bills in week three.
