Biggest Losers From The 2024 NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft is officially complete and fans have had almost a week to study what their team has done.

The first round took place last Thursday and there were many surprises. Despite an exciting first night, the draft is won and lost on days two and three. It can also be lost, depending on certain moves.

Below, check out three teams who lost the weekend during the NFL Draft.

3. Kirk Cousins (kind of) & Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons pulled off the surprise of the draft by taking Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth-overall pick in the first round. This came after signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal in the offseason. If a team signs a veteran quarterback to a massive deal such as this, it would behoove the team to add a player that can help them win right away.

Instead, Raheem Morris and the Falcons added Cousins’ replacement. There is an asterisk next to Cousins when talking about losers during the draft because he is still guaranteed $100 million during this contract. As for the Falcons, they must believe there is enough talent on the team around Cousins to win right now.

2. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills lost both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason. This made wide receiver the biggest need heading into the draft. Shockingly, the Bills traded back out of the first round. Even more shockingly, Buffalo sent its pick to the Kansas City Chiefs and allowed them to draft Xavier Worthy, who is one of the fastest players in the draft.

The Bills ended up selecting Florida State receiver Keon Coleman in the second round. If he ends up being a star, this decision will not be an issue but for now, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher why the Bills would move and send their pick to help their rival improve.

1. Denver Broncos

There are some in the NFL that think they are smarter than everyone else. Sean Payton is at the top of the list and it showed on draft night as well.

Not only did Payton reach on Bo Nix at No. 12 but he is playing the useless narrative of tricking the Minnesota Vikings into trading up. There is a very good chance that the Broncos are looking for their next quarterback soon enough.
