A look at Week 4 Browns at Raiders matchup

In fourth week of the 2024 NFL season the Cleveland Browns will travel to Las Vegas to play the Raiders. It will be the Browns second road game of the 2024 season. The Browns and the Raiders have a history that doesn’t favor the Browns. Some of those games are infamous in Cleveland Browns history.

The Cleveland Browns overall record against the Raiders is 10-15. That record includes the notorious red right 88 divisional playoff loss in January of 1981. The Raiders have always played the Browns tough. The last time these two teams played each other was in December of 2021 in Cleveland. The Browns lost that game 16-14. That was a game that had COVID 19 factoring into players being available. Many Browns starters including then starting quarterback Baker Mayfield were not able to play due to positive COVID tests. But this game will be different.

In 2023 the Las Vegas Raiders finished with an 8-9 record and second in AFC West. They did not make the playoffs last season. But they had an upset win on Christmas Day in Kansas City over the eventual Super Bowl Champion Chiefs 20-14.  The 2023 Raiders had a home record of 6-3 as well, they are a more than capable team to give the Browns a tough game.

The Cleveland Browns are a capable team as well. With a defense that is expected to be one of the best in the NFL did not travel well last year. The Browns record on the road last season was 2-5. If they expect to contend for a division title. They need to improve that record along with their turnover differential. The 2023 Cleveland Browns led the NFL in interceptions returned for touchdowns with 6. And they still finished with an 11-6 record. The Cleveland Browns are expected to be a good team in 2024. The week 4 game in Las Vegas will be a major test for this team. And if they expect to contend, it’s a test they must pass.
