Royals Superstar Bobby Witt Jr Continues To Make History

It has been a historic season for Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr, one that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

When the Royals superstar swiped second base in the first inning of the Royal’s 3-1 loss against the Tigers, he became the first shortstop in MLB history to have multiple 30/30 seasons.

“It’s pretty special any time you get to be the first,” Witt said, “but yeah, that’s over now. We’re onto tomorrow.”

Not only is he the first shortstop to have multiple 30/30 seasons, but he is also the first player to have multiple in his first three years in the big leagues.

“He’s the best player in baseball. He’s incredible,” Royals pitcher Cole Ragans said. “ “A special talent, a special human being.

“We’re blessed to be able to watch him each and every day, and how hard he works behind the scenes to make that product on the field be what it is, is incredible. He’s just a special, special player. It’s a joy to get to watch every single day.”

Witt looks like a shoo-in to win the batting title as he is hitting .331, eight points above Yankees superstar Aaron Judge who is at .323.

Yet another historic season for Judge will likely win his second AL MVP award but to say Witt won’t make some noise in that conversation would be nonsense.

On a border spectrum, Witt has led a historic turnaround for the Royals that could see them playing in the postseason for the first time since winning it all back in 2015.

Just a year ago, the Royals lost 106 games, flash forward to today and KC sits at 82-70 with a 1.5-game cushion in the second wild-card spot.

Kansas City locked up Witt to an 11-year $288,777,777 contract but it was their aggressive spending pushing them to this resurgence.

The Royals spent more than $100 million in free agency to refine their roster and also went out and made several moves at the trade deadline.

Breakouts from players like Seth Lugo, and Vinnie Pasquantino, and another great year from Salvador Pérez have the Royals once again ready for October.
