Will Nick Chubb be back this week?

On September 29 ,2024, Ian Rappaport posted on X that Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is expected to return to practice this week. He is not the only one saying this too. Adam Schefter posted the same take on X on the same day. This is because at the end of the 2024 training camp the Browns placed Nick Chubb on the active PUP (physically unable to perform) list. That means he is eligible to practice with the team on week 5 of the 2024 NFL season. This development will be a next step for Nick Chubb’s journey to recovery.

In week 2 of the 2023 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns played a Monday Night Football game at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a knee injury that so gruesome, ESPN would not show the replay on their broadcast.  Chubb would then endure two major knee surgeries. The last one was in the middle of November 2023. The 2024 off season showed many videos of Nick Chubb rehabbing his knee. He looked great in these videos and Browns were optimistic for his return.

Browns fans were even hopeful that Chubb could return on week 1 in 2024. But that wasn’t the case. He wasn’t ready at that time. Any updates or news on his return were kept under wraps by both the Browns front office and head coach Kevin Stefanski. I have written in the past that Browns fans will know of Nick Chubb’s return when he is on the practice field.

Since Chubb is eligible to begin practicing with his team this week, it doesn’t mean that he should. I trust the team doctors and trainers will do what is best for Nick Chubb and the Cleveland Browns. So, he will not return until he is ready. And he will be ready when he is practicing. Until then we have wait and see.
