MLB News: Los Angeles Angels Reportedly Add Pitcher Yusei Kikuchi

Free agency is underway in Major League Baseball, but the Los Angeles Angels seem like the only team that heard the starting gun.

While many teams are weighing their options, the Angels aren’t being shy about signing new players.

That trend continued with the reports that the Angels will be adding starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi.

The 33-year-old left-hander will sign for three years and $63 million, according to MLB.com.

Kikuchi has had an interesting year to say the least. He started the season in the final season of a three-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.

When the Jays’ playoff hopes fizzled, they traded Kikuchi to the Houston Astros.

After going 4-9 with a 4.75 ERA in Toronto, Kikuchi was 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA in Houston.

The Angels have been way ahead of the other 29 teams on free agent signings. They picked up right-handed pitcher Kyle Hendricks and veteran catcher Travis d’Arnaud.

They also acquired outfielder Jorge Soler from Atlanta. He hit 21 home runs this season with the Giants and Braves.

ADJUSTING THE HALO

The Angels spent years trying to build a championship around superstars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. This year, Trout was injured and Ohtani won the World Series with the cross-town Dodgers.

Meanwhile, the Angels lost 99 games. We will see if Trout bounces back with the new additions to get the team on the right track.
